Princess DRAFT to Pattern – Part 1

After CUTTING OUT your Princess Draft pieces, this is what you do NEXT:
ALERT – MAKE SURE YOUR PIECES ARE LABELED CORRECTLY – Ms. Chavez DID NOT do so in the past post BUT she fixed them in the image below

  • Place pieces back together
  • Draw in a NOTCH at the Apex, both Front and Back
  • Draw in a notch ABOVE the Apex, midway before reaching the shoulder
  • Draw in a notch BELOW the Apex, in the middle of the dart legs – MUST MATCH

NEXT

Then, match your pieces at the shoulder.
Make sure your PRINCESS lines match..

You will need – PENCIL – CURVED TOOL to adjust the Back Neckline

NOW you are ready for the NEXT part and you will need PATTERNMAKING PAPER.
If you DO NOT have patternmaking paper, you can DOWNLOAD and PRINT:

Aside from Patternmaking paper, you will need:
PINS – RULER – SHARP PENCILS – ERASER

This part of the process is extremely important because it establishes the STRAIGHT GRAIN on your pattern

And then, there is this part – TRACING

REMEMBER TO DRAW IN ALL OF YOUR NOTCHES and LABEL CF – on the Center Front Line and CB – on the Center Back Line

TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR PROGRESS and STORE IN YOUR ‘PRINCESS and DARTS’ Folder
